My Name is Tawnya Clause and I am one of the 5 Professional School Counselors that we have working for the Moniteau County R-1 District.
This is my 8th year working as a school counselor and my 6th year at California Elementary School. I worked as a part-time school counselor at Clarksburg prior to coming to California.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood Development from University of Central Missouri. I also hold a Master's Degree in Education for Guidance & Counseling (M Ed in Guidance and Counseling) from Lincoln University.
I worked in the mental health field for over 10 years prior to becoming an educator.
At CES I work primarily with Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade students. Students attend classes monthly called Skills for Growing. In these "Skills" classes we focus on character education in 3 main areas: Academic, Personal/Social, and Career Development. For the little ones this looks like students learning what our character words mean as well as the application of the concept in real life. I teach these through curriculum with planned lessons and utilize whole brain teaching methods. We are moving, we are learning, and we are making meaning of life experiences together. I also provide consultative services to school staff and parents, individual and small group counseling services to students, and individual student planning to assist with grade level transitions.
If you have any questions regarding our school counseling program, I would love to talk with you. Contact me by email or phone anytime!
