Mr. Baker, Principal

Dear Parents,

What an exciting time of the year!  Our maintenance and custodial staff have been working all summer to prepare our building and grounds for the upcoming school year, and I must say that everything looks amazing!  If you happen to see any of them around town please give them a pat on the back for a job well done.  I am so excited for this upcoming school year and look forward to visiting with each of you throughout the year.  We as an elementary school welcome communication from the parents and community in which we serve and would enjoy hearing from you whenever possible.

The educational staff has been hard at it this summer as well!  Classrooms have been arranged, lessons planned and teachers are excited to hit the ground running. It is our job to support each and every one of our students and help them reach educational heights that meet their potential.  As part of our attempt to identify the best instructional practices for each of our students we implement an assessment schedule that measures student achievement in several areas.  These assessments are conducted at the beginning of the school year (to determine a starting point), the middle of the year (as a progress check), as well as the end of the school year (to show total growth).  These assessments do not help or hinder your child’s grade.  The assessments are merely a measuring tool for our teachers to use to guide their instructional practices within the classroom.  The outcome of these assessments will be shared with you periodically throughout the year.  If you have any questions about these assessments please feel free to stop in and speak with your child’s teacher or myself.

Finally, just like our students and your children can not grow without guidance, neither can we as an educational community.  If there is something that you feel we could improve on, let us know.  We cannot fix what we do not know is broken, your feedback and collaboration will be vital to our growth.

Your Excited Principal,

Gary Baker
